Vilankulos Island Snorkeling Excursion Review

Updated: Nov 26, 2018

Lynton’s island excursion on his boat was the highlight of my trip to Vilankulos. He made sure we were prepared early so that we could have Marguerite Island beach to ourselves in the morning.

Endless Beach

Lynton allowed us to decide where we spent our time and which location we wanted to be in. I enjoyed his flexibility and easygoingness. It was free of tourists and perfect for photographs. We walked about 5km around the whole Island to get a view from all angles, collecting seashells and creatures along the way. I found beautiful pansy shells that are only found on the islands as well as cowrie shells used for necklaces.

I brought back a bag of shells for my students. They had no idea what a shell was. It was nice to share the beach with them.

Snorkeling

I had never been snorkeling before and Lynton made sure I was fitted into the gear properly and felt comfortable swimming along the reef.

Drones weren't allowed on the island, but we were with a local and got an exception.

He gave a quick lesson and let us discover the waters on our own time throughout the day. The water along the coral wall was very clear and the fish were friendly. The schools of vibrant fish passed by as if we weren’t there. The boat ride was brief, the weather was incredible, and the day was well-spent on the island. The trip was filled whole day of island activities.
